Program Options
Day Programs - Great options for kids who want to participate in the Academy experience but who may not be ready for a weekly overnight. Day programs will challenge and engage participants through a wide variety of specialty and outdoor activities but are designed to allow families to spend evenings together.
Overnight Adventures - The Academy experience is firmly rooted in the belief that extensive time spent in wild places greatly contributes to both a child's personal growth and their appreciation of the natural world. Overnights allow for students to build and foster strong relationships with other participants while strengthening their respect and appreciation for places outside. Overnight adventures consist of a single or double overnight each week.
Adventure Travel - These programs are designed to allow our most adventurous students to participate in a unique expedition experience. Whether trekking high alpine ridges, floating miles of wild rivers, road tripping across the country or flying around the globe you will be sure to return with a greater appreciation of our planet and its people. Adventure Travel programs will have three or more overnights during the course of the program.
STEAM Adventures- Blending the best of adventure education with hands-on applications, Telluride Academy offers a variety of STEAM-focused programs throughout the summer. Students can build flying DRONES, cook in Solar ovens, build Lego robots or sing on an outdoor stage. Based on natural and adaptable ways of learning, these programs are designed to create a solid and applicable knowledge base that stays with the student long after the program ends. Through the expertise instruction, creativity and enthusiasm of PhD scientists, acclaimed artistic directors and industry professionals, students will immerse themselves in a world that celebrates discovery and allows for an interactive and adventurous learning experience.
Challenge Levels
All Academy programs are assigned a Challenge Level. These varying levels of difficulty take into account such factors as types of activities performed, physical demand, number of overnights and distances traveled. These rankings are designed to help you choose an appropriate program for your child. However, we suggest that you contact the Academy for specific information on a particular program.

Level I programs will include activities that will be introductory and designed so that most participants will be comfortable attempting to participate. Programs will include short hikes, arts and crafts and introductory hard skills activities (climbing, boating, etc)
Level II programs are for both beginners and blossoming enthusiasts. These programs will involve activities and experiences that will build on previous skills learned and / or take further the specific techniques of a particular activity. These programs will require more of a willingness to participate than previous experience. Most level II programs will include at least one overnight.
Level III programs will challenge participants and begin to focus on specific skills and techniques. These programs usually require some form of previous experience or comfort level with an activity and will often involve multiple overnights.
