celebrating four decades of "dirt don't hurt"

May 20th, 2020

Dear Telluride Academy Families,

Patience has become the new normal for so many of us these days. While we have been extremely proactive in our efforts to completely redesign our summer programs, we are still finding ourselves in a "hurry up and wait" situation. The governor of Colorado, Jared Polis is expected to make an announcement about the reopening of summer camps on May 25th. This ruling will then be available for our county leadership to adopt and/or amend as needed to support our current status regionally. Read the article here.

Our leadership, in collaboration with our board of directors, has been pursuing ALL possible options for providing our outdoor adventures this summer. We have adopted San Miguel County public health orders and implemented changes to our program to adhere to these important guidelines. We have been in contact with the county health department as well as our licensing representative at the Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS). Our resource sharing has extended to camps and youth adventure programs from across the country and we are now in possession of the CDC's recently released Field Guide for Camps.

As we surpass over two months of applying proactive, creative and cautious energy into redesigning our unique summer programming, we continue to encounter new challenges and unknowns. Our hearts have been poured into this endeavor and we have come to recognize the need for deep breaths and patience throughout this process. We thank you for your patience with us and look forward to more clarity in the days ahead. Please check our homepage for updates.

Your in adventure,

Team TA
