Academy International is bound for Cuba! Join your intrepid world travelling instructors as they lead an unforgettable journey into the heart of this Caribbean nation full of curiosities and contradictions. Academy International experiences are a thoughtful blend of cultural immersion, language study and adventure travel. Students will experience an authentic Cuba through immersive accommodations and unique experiences that are designed to enrich and deepen the connections we are trying to establish. Connections with both the people and the places that we visit. Our Caribbean odyssey begins in the colonial capital city of Havana. A city where life is lived out in the open and time seems in no rush to keep pace with the rest of the world. Havana’s atmospheric streets will entertain, inspire and assault your every sense. While in Havana we will stay at a local Casa Particulares where we will integrate ourselves into the daily rhythm and routines of Cuban culture through language, food and our free time. Next, we head south to the perfectly preserved Spanish colonial settlement of Trinidad. Declared a Unesco World Heritage site, this living museum of cobblestone streets, singing troubadours and the soaring Sierra Escambray Mountains will be the backdrop for the next chapter in our Cuban adventure. Finally, we are bound for Baracoa, Cuba’s oldest and most remote village. Here we will immerse ourselves in the mysteries and legends that permeate through the lush and verdant jungles of this eastern region. We will swim and snorkel in clear Caribbean waters and partake in a multi-day jungle trek through the Cuchillos del Toa Mountains. This is sure to be an adventure unlike anything even the most seasoned traveler has experienced. Cuba will cast you into a mysterious world where history walks with you; where music and magic are found in abundance and the atmosphere of architecture, art and stunning natural beauty will fuel your mind, body and soul.
