Join us for Academy’s ALL NEW backcountry backpacking program! Are you ready to test your limits? As part of Academy’s new teen program line up, Expedition Backcountry will allow you to join other Academy adventurers from across the country to build the advanced outdoor skills and confidence you need to lead yourself and your group in the backcountry. Get ready for two weeks of rugged trails, intense teamwork and unforseen challenges. Designed and led by Sam and Erik Peterson, students will hike many miles, summit mountains, camp in high alpine meadows and overcome mental barriers by facing and adapting to unexpected conditions. You never know what adventure is waiting over the next peak! This new hard skills program is designed to take students to the next level of backcountry education, leadership and adventure. It will challenge participant’s physical and mental abilities and develop outdoor leadership skills, risk management, problem solving and advanced outdoor skills including wilderness backpacking and travel skills, backcountry navigation techniques, communication and group dynamics, food drop logistics, backcountry cooking skills, and wilderness stewardship. Expedition Backcountry is the perfect way for adventurous teens to form a relationship with the “great outdoors.”
