Be a part of this unique lunar adventure as we paddle the mighty Colorado River. We’ll be spending our days flowing through the rugged beauty of the Ruby Horsethief canyon. Students will work with the Academy’s passionate and certified boating staff to rig and pack boats along with their own personal dry bags. Instruction will be given and reinforced on proper paddling techniques, how to read river currents and safe and effective ways to communicate and work together on the water. Our river days will be spent exploring side canyons, preparing big backcountry meals and long leisurely paddles on the water. Evenings will be spent at beach-side base camps where sand, swimming and shady retreats will be in ample supply and each day will end with desert sunsets and moon-lit evenings. Boaters will perfect their paddling techniques on this Full Moon River and learn the basics for a lifetime of running rivers!
