Ecuador and the Galapagos
April 5 - 22
$5300 Includes air from hub city (TBD)

Mutt Butts International is headed south! Join our intrepid world travelers as they lead an unforgettable journey into the heart of Ecuador and Galapagos. Mudd Butts International experiences are a thoughtful blend of theater, cultural immersion, language study and adventure travel. Students will operate in both a group setting as well as in pairs during an immersive homestay experience that is designed to enrich and deepen the connections we work to establish; connections with both the people and the places that will be host to our travelling community. Our journey will begin in the world’s second highest capital city of Quito where we will wander colonial streets, open air markets and the Unesco World Heritage sites of “Old Town”. We will then travel to the small island community of San Cristobal in the Galapagos. The many creatures that call these islands home are not found anywhere else in the world! We will have the opportunity to snorkel or surf as well as observe the largest tortoises and iguanas in the wild, explore underground lava tunnels and experience the fascinating Charles Darwin Research Station.
During the weekdays, Americans and Ecuadorian students will meet several hours every afternoon to work on an original bi-lingual theater piece under the direction of theater specialists Sally Davis and Kim Epifano. Students interested in set and prop design may choose to work alongside other local students under the direction of MBI’s Prop master Mike Stasiuk.
The program culminates with a richly textured performances infused with dance, music, props, costumes, storytelling and the added zing of a cross-cultural troupe. MBI students return home from this life changing experience with new friendships, an elevated awareness of their creative potential and a sense of “neighborhood” that reaches across the planet.
