New leadership at telluride academy

former executive director, elaine demas

March, 2017

On May 1st of this year there will be a "changing of the guard" here at Telluride Academy. I will be leaving the Organization and Luke Brown, our Program Director, will be stepping in to my role as Executive Director. It is very difficult for me to say goodbye. The Academy’s Administrative Staff are some of the greatest people and the finest professionals I have ever had the pleasure to work with; they are like family to me and all of you and your children an extension of that family. I will miss you all very much.

The Telluride Academy Board of Directors conducted a professional search to find a qualified replacement and ultimately selected Luke Brown as the Organization’s next Executive Director. Luke is a graduate of Colorado State University where he studied Natural Resource Recreation. He started his career at Telluride Academy in 2003 as a Summer Field Instructor and was promoted to Program Director in 2006. He has been intimately involved in each and every program we have offered since that day. He is incredibly dedicated to providing outdoor education to all children and an excellent choice to lead our Organization into the future. I am excited for Luke in his new role and for the future of Telluride Academy under his leadership.

Next up for me is a new position at Telluride Foundation as Vice President of Initiatives. I will begin working there on May 1st. At the Foundation, I will be working on donor development and a number of community initiatives, including creating solutions for affordable housing here in Telluride and advocating for economic development in the rural and under resourced west end of our county. It's challenging and important work and I'm excited to remain in the non-profit sector with an organization that is effecting positive change in Telluride as well as in our neighboring communities.

Sign up for a Parent Hike or attend a Parent Party this summer. I’ll hopefully see you there.

Sincerely,

Elaine
