A new twist on our River Runners program sends us into the depths of majestic canyons to float two of our favorite rivers! River Runners will spend two weeks learning the skills needed to charge the rapids of our regional waterways. We’ll captain our own inflatable duckies and learn the paddle techniques and terminology needed to safely read river features and navigate obstacles along the way. Our first week takes us deep into the desert for a multi-day self-support river trip on the Lower Gunnison River and Dominguez-Escalante Canyon. We will spend our days paddling beneath the sandstone bluffs and hiking red rock canyons. On our layover day we will even search for secret swimming holes! During our second week, we’ll drive down to Bluff, Utah where we will launch the San Juan River for a three day, two night river trip with Wild Expeditions. Our expert guides will take us to hidden ruins and ancient rock art sites that are only accessible by water craft. We’ll hear ample stories about ancestral pueblo culture and the history of the sacred San Juan before taking out and heading home. We’ll celebrate with tacos on the way back to Telluride and grant sweet goodbyes to all the wonderful and new friends we’ve made! Join us on this wet and wild adventure with the legendary River Runners!
