Ages: 9 - 11

Dates:  July 9 - 19

Tuition: $950
Overnights: 3

Challenge Level:

Learn to live, hunt, trap and track in the ancient way. We'll become backcountry survivors as we construct primitive hunting devices, learn how to track animals,  identify edible plants, learn to read a map and compass and build our own shelters. We'll put our new skills to the test as we live in primitive conditions and learn how to survive the wilderness during week one. Week two, we will have a double overnight adventure at a high alpine backcountry cabin. Accessed by a short trek into the backcountry, students will live simply in a rustic mountain hut that is fully equipped with a kitchen, lounging areas, wood burning stoves, and cozy sleeping quarters! Here, we will learn to navigate with map and compass, and save lives with an exciting hands-on Wilderness First Aid class. You will work in a classroom and in the field. You will participate in mock rescues, learn CPR, and study backcountry emergency care.  You’ll learn how to clean and bandage a wound, splint a break, soothe a burn, wrap a sprain, and deal with major medical emergencies such as head injuries and airway obstructions. Amaze your friends and yourself with your newly acquired SURVIVAL super powers!
