Program Director

 October 2018

Originally from Boston, Sophie earned her degree in Social Work in 2016 and comes to us with a strong background in program planning, volunteer management and fundraising. Before moving to Telluride, her jobs included planning programs for youth in foster care, refugee families, and homeless teens, and more recently, fundraising for the United Way. Sophie took an extended vacation to Telluride in 2016, and was so intrigued by the town that she moved back only a few months later. Sophie was hired as a Field Instructor for Telluride Academy in the summer of 2017, and worked the following winter as a certified ski instructor for Telluride Ski School. She was recently hired as Telluride Academy’s new Program Director.

She is incredibly excited about the opportunities ahead and is looking forward to helping provide kids with summer and after-school experiences they will remember for a lifetime. She believes that empowering kids through outdoor adventure will ensure they grow up with a passion to explore, learn, and care about the world and environment around them. Sophie is looking forward to planting her roots in Telluride and becoming a member of its vibrant professional community. In her spare time she also enjoys volunteering as a Special Olympics ski coach for Telluride Adaptive Sports Program, hiking, mountain biking, working at Esperanza’s and road tripping to new places.
